Please see below a statement from the Leader of Waltham Forest Council, Cllr Clare Coghill, on the recent allegations of anti-Semitism in the Labour Party -
“Anti-Semitism has no place within the Labour Party and I am appalled by the allegations that have been made. I am very clear that anti-Semitism is racism and I stand in solidarity with all those who have condemned the disgusting comments that have been made by some within our Party. The Labour Party has a proud history of fighting racism and this shocking behaviour from those within our ranks should shame us all.
Let me make this absolutely clear - if anyone has suffered anti-Semitic abuse at the hands of a Labour Party councillor, candidate or member in Waltham Forest, they should report it directly to the Police and to me. I will ensure that any allegations are thoroughly investigated and that those who have brought our Party into disrepute are held to account.
Enough is enough.”
